The events of The Penguin start on November 13, 2022, a week after the election night catastrophe of The Batman. That much is confirmed by Alberto Falcone’s grave plate in Episode 2, “Inside Man,” which means the November 18th date of this mysterious new drug shipment isn’t far off.

The world of The Penguin and Matt Reeves' The Batman might do well to incorporate these grittier villains from the pages of DC Comics.

There are also live-action TV shows that feature the Penguin. Robin Lord Taylor plays a younger version of the character in “Gotham” (2014-2019), and in the series “Batman” (1966-1968) Cobblepot was played by Burgess Meredith.

Batman's film villains rarely explore superpowered adversaries, but the next actor should face more monstrous foes. Batman's comic stories showcase cosmic, monstrous villains, expanding his role within DC Comics.

Theo Rossi plays Dr. Julian Rush in 'The Penguin,' who is Sofia Falcone's therapist. But he could really be a reworked version of Hugo Strange or The Scarecrow.
