Becton Dickinson has agreed to resolve nearly all U.S. lawsuits by people who say they were injured by its hernia repair mesh, about 38,000 cases, in an unusual settlement overseen jointly by state and federal courts,

The settlement with Becton, Dickinson and Co., or BD, resolves nearly 25,000 cases in federal multidistrict litigation and more than 15,000 in state courts in Rhode Island, where Bard is headquartered.

Becton Dickinson (BDX) is reportedly expected to pay over $1B to settle claims related to the use of its mesh wire product to treat hernias. Read more here.
