The city of Duluth is conducting an internal investigation of recent reports that Mayor Roger Reinert’s campaign manager and girlfriend has been involved in city affairs.

An internal review will examine whether the mayor's partner, working in a volunteer capacity, may have crossed ethical or even legal lines.

Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert released a statement on social media on Wednesday, September 25 in response to allegations that his girlfriend, Amber Gurske, a local marketing manager, has been involving herself in city business.

Emails reveal that Amber Gurske coordinated the mayor’s involvement with President Biden during his visit in January. She was also on a panel interviewing candidates for a senior adviser position at Reinert’s office.
