Typhoon Krathon, packing maximum sustained winds of 78 mph with gusts of 101 mph,was forecast to weaken into a tropical depression before it reaches the capital, Taipei.

Weather conditions were worsening around Kaohsiung, in southern Taiwan, as Typhoon Krathon made landfall on Thursday, October 3.Footage by Webber Lee shows driving rain and strong winds battering Kaohsiung.

Two people have been killed and more than 10,000 evacuated, the authorities said. The downpour has triggered landslides and flooding.
