A developing storm, which may or may not get a name, could bring 4 to 8 inches of rain across central and southern Florida, with up to a foot not impossible in spots.

Odds have dropped that a tropical storm or hurricane will develop in the Gulf of Mexico, but forecasters said the system is likely to carry a lot of rainfall to Florida next week.

South and Central Florida are likely to get 3 inches or more of rainfall between Sunday and Tuesday. Some forecasts predict more than a foot of rain.
