Iran launched almost 200 missiles at Israel, though Israeli authorities said there were no injuries and scattered damage and fires from falling shrapnel.

Israel has launched what it called “a limited ground operation” across its northern border into Lebanon targeting the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, opening a new and dangerous phase in almost a year of war.

Israel says it aims to cripple Hezbollah’s forces in an area of southern Lebanon that the armed group controls, and where it has built tunnels into Israel.
