YouTube is blocking some songs from popular artists a week before a licensing contract expires. This could be a negotiation tactic, a new report suggests.

YouTube said it reached a deal with performing rights organization SESAC on new licensing terms, which will restore music videos for artists that went dark on the video platform over the weekend. Songs by Adele,

But just because an artist has ties to SESAC, it doesn't mean every song they've ever released is being blocked, however. A quick test on YouTube shows Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin" is blocked due to SESAC, but other songs, like "Must Be Santa," are not blocked.
